| How Does Your Unconscious Interfere with Your Conscious Mind? |
|
Every second you are experiencing thousands of new stimuli that your brain is attempting to process. Simply by staring at this screen right now, your brain is processing the words you are reading, the computer screen, the keyboard, the noises around you, the remainder of the web page and so on. Everything you can notice right now is part of your conscious mind. You are processing it, you can look at it, remember it, etc. But how you perceive this writing, and many of the feelings you get when you think about your own life are a result of your unconscious mind – the area of your mind that stores the events of your past that impact the way you feel and perceive the present. Deep within your unconscious are the events that affected who you are today, and while there are many important events that you can remember, there are also many that you have buried deep within the recesses of your mind. However, though they may be buried, they are no less powerful. Your unconscious mind not only affects how you see the world around you, but it also is the least resistant to change, because it is founded on experiences in life and not based on your own thoughts and desires. It is for this reason that hypnosis is needed to treat many different emotional, psychological, and life impacting problems. In my next post, I will go over why hypnosis is used and how it is so effective. 30 October 2010 |
